Vivo starts its research for the 6G network

An important meeting has just ended in China live is the protagonist. The main theme of this conference was the technology and the 6G network. Qin Fei, president of the live Communication Research Institute, said the company has begun its research into the new network that will succeed (or join) the 5G network. The scenarios involved are different: smartphone, glasses with support for augmented reality (VR) and robot. As for robots, the same Qin Fen admits that by the year 2030 multifunctional robots equipped with artificial intelligence and 6G connectivity will replace those currently in use that we are used to seeing in homes with IoT ecosystems. In terms of AR and VR glasses, however, the body is expected to be thinner and could be connected to humans via a human-machine interface. And for smartphones?

6G technology for vivo: here are all the scenarios in which the company intends to aim with the new network

Unlike the scenarios imagined for AR glasses and robots, according to Qin Fen the world of smartphones will not change that much. He himself gives several reasons:

  • touch screens are difficult to change (and costs would skyrocket) when changing hardware;
  • communication through 6G requires a module other than that of 5G to connect to the network and this also involves very high costs;
  • computing power currently requires too much energy.

At this point the question arises: but what difference will have 4G and 5G with 6G in everyday use? Here too the president of the research department replies very clearly: the 4G and 5G are about connectivity and digitization, while 6G is about strengthening and combining them with artificial intelligence to provide communication, processing and storage services.

This is why it is too simplistic to say that 6G is 5G added to IoT ecosystems. Below is more. We can't wait to find out what.
