Vivo V2012A certified in China: it could be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 898

According to several past rumors, the smartphone is expected to be equipped with the next generation Snapdragon 898 mobile chipset. Furthermore, the CMIIT certification suggests that the smartphone could debut in China before the end of the year.

The MIIT certification of the Vivo V2012A reveals only some of its connectivity features such as 5G support. Earlier this month, the smartphone with model number V2102A was spotted on the Geekbench benchmark site. The benchmark site revealed that it is powered by a Qualcomm chipset codenamed "taro" and was equipped with Adreno 730 graphics. For these reasons it is thought that the Vivo V2102A will be powered by the successor to the Snapdragon 888 SoC, the which is currently called Snapdragon 898.

Also on Geekbench we found that the smartphone comes with at least 8 GB of RAM and runs on the Android 11 operating system.

Recall that Qualcomm has yet to announce the Snapdragon 898 chipset. As usual, the new chipset could be announced at Qualcomm's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2021 to be held between November 30 and December 2.
