Vivo X60: the global series will receive Pixel Shift technology, like a DSLR

The smartphones of the series vivo X60 they have been on sale in China for some time now and will soon be announced globally. Today it has become known that the international versions will differ significantly from Chinese ones. One of the differences we saw a few days ago in reference to number of cameras. These, in the global version, will be three instead of four. However, the same international variant will have a software improvement always in the photographic field, or the Pixel Shift technology. Let's see what it is.

What is Pixel Shaft technology and what will it bring to vivo X60 (series) in Global version? Really impressive improvements await us

A few keywords first.

  • DSLR is another way to refer to digital SLR cameras. We used this term in the title because the Pixel Shift technology that we will see on the vivo X60 is already used in this genre of devices.
  • Bayer Layer: Within a section, there are several pixels (16) which are of three colors (red, green and blue). However, there is not the same amount of color in the whole section. If we look at the image below, on the left, we will understand that there are more green pixels than red and blue. Interpolation is used to fill in the gaps, but this introduces inaccuracies.
vivo x60 pixel shift

GSMArena claims that all three smartphones (vivo X60, X60 Pro and X60 pro Plus) will receive the technology Pixel Shift. The essence of the technology lies in the microscopic displacement of the image sensor by one pixel to obtain information about all colors for each pixel. This technology is commonly found in large DSLR cameras, as we mentioned earlier.

In this case, usually for its implementation, four images are enough, one with a shift in each direction. Smartphones vivo will presumably take eight photos and the software will create one. In upcoming devices, the technology will be implemented through a special suspension for the sensor.

It is noteworthy that all and three models of the line in the global market will receive this technology for their main camera.
