Wear OS and Tizen merge: welcome to… Wear

Perhaps an absurd choice, but during the Google I/O it was clearly said goodbye to Wear OS. The "old" smartwatch operating system we have come to know has been replaced by a hybrid between him and Tizen, Many of you will ask: how is this possible? Tizen is the wearables software platform of Samsung. Well, Google has announced a merger between the two poles. Basically Wear is the legitimate child between Wear OS and Tizen. Ambiguous name, isn't it? But let's see what Google has announced in this regard.

Wear OS retires: Wear is born from his marriage with Tizen. A name poco imaginative but that we will have to "learn" to know

During the Google I / O conference, where it was also revealed Android 12, the Mountain View company has decided to announce thejoining forces with Samsung. The two giants have created a son thanks to the union of Wear OS and Tizen. These are the two smartwatch platforms, on which Android customizations for wearables are based. The name of the unborn child, poco innovative is Wear. The goal, second as revealed, is that of merge open source from Google and responsiveness from Samsung.

The information provided by the company is very little at the moment, but we are talking about smoother animations, a greater one quick opening for applications (+ 30%) and at the same time one greater autonomy of the battery.

As we said, Google was not very specific but we understand from the images and the mock ups of Wear OS (or rather Wear) that it is a system based on tiles, or on the browsable pages. There will be one greater integration of Google services, in particular Assistant, Maps and Google Pay. It will also be available later this year YouTube Music, a dedicated wearable application like we have it on smartphones.

And as for the features related to the fitness? Clearly Google will integrate all those we already find on Fitbit. We remind you that the company of the same name was recently purchased entirely by Google. So on this front there is nothing to worry about.
