Chinese tech giant ZTE has just unveiled a very interesting new portable Wi-Fi router.
ZTE Portable Router MU5001 presented: the portable router with integrated display
The router comes with a 5G SIM slot and a touch display that allows the user to use the device and configure it as a smartphone, rather than via a WebUI interface or a dedicated app.
The product is called ZTE Portable Router MU5001 and adopts two-color design. The top and back are black while the chassis is metallic blue.
The ZTE Portable Router MU5001 is not very slim as it includes a Gigabit Ethernet port on one side and also integrates a 4500mAh battery. That said, despite its size, it fits easily into your pocket without any problems.
To insert the SIM into the router we find a tray at the top that must be extracted just like on the most common smartphones, so you will need a SIM eject tool. The top is also where the power button and two external antenna slots are located.
The ZTE MU5001 portable router is an AX1800 type router with support for NSA and SA 5G networks and 4G networks. Inside we find a Snapdragon X55 modem with a maximum download speed of up to 3,8 Gbps.
ZTE claims that a maximum of 32 users can be connected to the router via the three interfaces, namely Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and the USB Type-C port combined. While the 4500mAh battery will last up to 8 hours on a single charge and also supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.
The ZTE MU5001 will be sold in China at a price of 2499 yuan, about 330 euros at the exchange rate.
