Blackview BV6300 Pro review
The rugged smartphone market is increasingly taking hold in the hearts of users, thanks to a significant step forward both in the design proposed by these devices and in the hardware features. So let's analyze together the Blackview BV6300 Pro and understand if it too falls within the statement just made.
Inside the package we find the following equipment:
- Blackview BV6300 Pro;
- 12V - 1.5A / 18W EU charger;
- USB / Type-C cable (this only acts as a charging and NOT data transfer);
- in-ear headphones;
- protective plastic film (one is already applied to the display);
- pin for the SIM slot;
- manuals.
The main feature of rugged phones is to offer a body to protect the smartphone that generally make the ergonomics of the same clumsy, but in the case of the Blackview BV6300 Pro, we are faced with a rather handy terminal net of generous dimensions equal a 159.6 x 78.2 x 12.8 mm and a total weight of 230 g. What I have found poco reassuring is the plastic that covers the entire back cover, even if embellished with some rubber inserts, as well as some details in red color that bring this device closer to the gaming style than rugged. Also on the back we find a photographic compartment consisting of 4 optics and LED flash, second microphone and the fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone, which takes place in not exactly fast times, but which does not miss a beat and which is convenient in positioning. and then in the search for the same with the finger.
Blackview BV6300 Pro enjoys IP68, IP69K and MIL-STD-810G certification, making it waterproof up to 1,5 meters deep for 30 minutes as well as withstanding dust and bumps / drops from 1,5 meters high, but also the possibility of working in very harsh environments for temperatures, with values between -20 ° C and + 60 ° C. On the upper profile we find in fact a small silicone door that protects the AUX input for the earphones, while specularly we have the mono speaker, main microphone and Type-C input, also protected by a silicone cover, which also offers the OTG support.
On the right profile we find the POWER button and volume rocker, which when pressed together allow you to take screenshots or to silence the smartphone. On the left we have an additional silicone door that protects the hybrid SIM tray, allowing the insertion of 2 nano SIM cards with 4G VoLTE navigation on both slots, or alternatively 1 SIM and 1 microSD card (max 128 GB ) to expand the internal memory, but giving up the Dual SIM Dual Standby functionality.
Here before tackling anything else, I must bring to attention some specifics that in daily use turn out to be more than defects. First of all, both the AUX input and the Type-C charging input are inserted too deep, therefore using third-party headphones or Type-C cables may not be feasible, due to the shorter length of the plug compared to those supplied. Still on the headphones, it must be said that these will serve to operate the FM radio this Blackview BV6300 Pro is equipped with, a typical solution of many smartphones, but in this case I found it a defect and I would have preferred that the company adopts the choice of making the FM radio work even without earphones, as for example happens on Redmi 9. This is a defect, because we must think about the fact that the hypothetical user of these rugged phones could be a worker who may work on scaffolding and who would like to listen to some music or a football match from their phone. Therefore, operating with earphones wired around the neck could certainly be unsafe.
Overall, the dimensions and weight as well as the slightly curved lines of the profiles, guarantee good handling of the device, offering an excellent grip, but the plastic used did not inspire me confidence about the real resistance to shocks and scratches, not so much for the body but for the display. In fact, this is not wrapped in materials like on other rugged phones, but rather raised by the body and simply embellished with a thin colored frame.
Overall, the dimensions and weight as well as the slightly curved lines of the profiles, guarantee good handling of the device, offering an excellent grip, but the plastic used did not inspire me confidence about the real resistance to shocks and scratches, not so much for the body but for the display. In fact, this is not wrapped in materials like on other rugged phones, but rather raised by the body and simply embellished with a thin colored frame.
We are talking about a display with 5,7-inch IPS technology in 18: 9 format and HD + resolution (720 x 1440 pixels) and 240 PPI, protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and a plastic film pre-applied by the company. Absent the ability to view streaming content in high definition also seen the level 3 Widelvine DRMs, but those who use this type of smartphone certainly are not looking for a panel who knows how resolute but which does its own in a more than honest way. Here, Blackview BV6300 Pro, in this sense it behaves badly, not so much for the color rendering which is not always faithful or for the viewing angles which are decidedly poor, but it is precisely the visibility under the sun to fail, also considering a very low backlight range. A real shame for the hypothetical worker who receives a call or a message while at high altitude under the direct sun.
In any case, there is a notification LED in the upper part, flanked by the ear capsule, proximity and brightness sensors and selfie camera that also allows the phone to be unlocked via unlock face, but do not rely too much on it because in addition to not being fast, the 'I found poco reliable, unlocking the device 5 times out of 10. In the lower part there are no physical buttons, but virtual ones which can be hidden, thus being able to move within the interface through gestures.
The heart of this smartphone is a Mediatek MT6771 SoC, better known as Helio P70, an octa-core processor with a maximum clock frequency of 2.1 GHz (4xCortex-A73 2.1GHz and 4xCortex-A53 2.0GHz) and 12nm production process. The SoC integrates a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, which is flanked by 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB internal storage of the eMMC 5.1 type, expandable with microSD. The hardware turned out to be quite handsome, without running into trouble even with gaming activities, being able to run titles of the caliber of Call of Duty Mobile or Genshin Impact, certainly not at maximum levels, but still offering a really excellent game fluidity, which of course it pours into a system stability even for the use of applications in everyday life.
Perhaps also thanks to the operating system, practically stock, which is based on Android 10 and security patches of June 2020. I would not rely heavily on probable future updates, also because the voice relating to this is not available, but what has me annoying is that of having replicated certain applications. In short, if you want to rely on stock Android you don't need to replicate Chrome with Opera, or Youtube Music with the AOSP ROM typical Music app with MediaTek CPU, just as you don't need to have two file managers. In any case, the customizations of Blackview BV6300 Pro stop at the insertion of Game Mode, Child Mode, the System Manager from which to optimize some performance and a sort of app called Tool Bag, in which to find Compass, Torch, Protractor, Pendulum, ambient sound meter, level and more that could be useful for construction professionals.
Complete the hardware equipment the presence of a Bluetooth 4.2, WiFi Dual Band 2.4 / 5.0 GHz, GPS / GLONASS / Beidou that hooks the signal well and quickly, FM radio and NFC sensor for mobile payments, a real convenience for the worker who may have dirty hands and does not want to put his hand to his wallet.
We have not talked about audio and quality in call, so I will immediately tell you that from the earpiece the audio in call is heard well and with a good volume. Excellent microphone, the others hear us well without any problem. Signal coverage was also good, although I do not think 4G + support is present, but support for the 20 band is present. The single speaker does not benefit from a particularly pumped sound in the low tones, these almost absent, but the volume of listening was decidedly high, without distortions. An advantage that will allow the worker to hear the phone ringing while at work with noisy tools.
Blackview BV6300 Pro uses a 4380 mAh battery, a decidedly atypical value for the smartphone category, where some specimens have even offered 10000 mAh. But that aside, considering hardware and displays poco exorbitant, we can always take home a full day if not two, considering that you certainly will not use the phone exclusively to play. Furthermore, the exclusivity for the category is the presence of 10W Wireless charging.
Given that the typical user of this type of smartphone has no needs or claims in the photographic field, the Blackview BV6300 Pro uses a 13 MP selfie camera, f / 2.2 and SONY IMX214 sensor on the front. We have through this perspective to record videos in Full HD at 30 fps, being able to also use a sort of EIS digital stabilizer. For photos we also have the automatic HDR mode and the yield for both videos and photos is quite appreciable, while on the rear the optics are even 4 and are composed as follows:
- 16 MP main lens, f / 2.0, Samsung S5K3P8 sensor
- ultrawide 8 MP optics, FOV 120 °, f / 2.2, Sony IMX132 sensor
- 2.0 MP optics, MACRO function, f / 2.0, GC2385 sensor (never heard before)
- 0.3 MP auxiliary lens, f / 1.8, GC032A sensor
Going beyond the fact that certain rooms boast presence only for marketing purposes, we have the possibility to record videos in Full HD 30fps with EIS digital stabilization as well as take pictures with automatic HDR, shoot Slow Motion videos, enable PRO mode and Night.

We therefore do not have the portrait mode for bokeh effect, and that's okay, just to have something that doesn't work ... I didn't like the photos in Macro mode, because the sensor cancels any chromatic fidelity, returning shots poco defined and decidedly unreal in the colors of the subject. The night mode shoots worse than the standard one and the ultrawide lens seems to be taken from a low-level action camera, as the colors of the photo are always saturated, although it is appreciable that there is no distortion of the corners of the photo.
Therefore, the standard camera remains which on the whole allows us to obtain, in good lighting conditions, some rather pleasant shots, but overall the user of Blackview BV6300 Pro, would hardly entrust the memories of his life to this device, especially in conditions of artificial lighting, as the optics can hardly bring the framed subject into focus.
Conclusions
I don't feel like promoting this Blackview BV6300 Pro, because there are so many doubts and perplexities that have accompanied me during this review. Good autonomy, amazing performances and some features such as the presence of the NFC, but on balance is the selling price justified? TO poco more than the selling price of this Blackview I turn to a normal smartphone, street price we can take home a POCO X3 NFC, but if I really have to turn to a rugged phone, or I am a professional and therefore I should regardless focus on high-end smartphones in their field, such as those of CAT or I am a simple worker looking for a smartphone that allows him to stay in contact with family, messaging, some social networks, some videos on Youtube and messing around in general. Therefore, for less than 100 euros, there are rugged phones and therefore this Blackview BV6300 Pro, I really don't know where to place it.
